Happy New Year to everyone - We start the New year with some bad news, I'm afraid. Dick Jones, one of our Vice Presidents passed away on Thursday last. I have no details regarding the funeral but will post them here as soon as I hear anything and would appreciate anyone updating me, if they have some information. It's not easy to say much about Dick, he was a guy, with a dry sense of humour, who beavered away in the background at the club, and carried out many maintenance tasks for us. Some years back, I opened the Rifle target shed to take out a target frame and was surprised to see a Fersuson TE20 tractor looking at me. It was in beautiful condition and belonged to Dick who had restored it and who was a stalwart enthusiast in the world of vintage tractors. The following photographs are typical of Dick and I extend my apologies to the Glamorgan Iron Horse Society for filching the pictures from their website. Our thoughts and condolences are extended to Trish, Calli, Laura and all the family.

28th December 2011

The result of the Boxing Day shoot is posted on the Results page.

22nd December 2011
Many websites have a date on them somewhere, indicating that they have been updated - I've decided to produce this 'Notices' page instead. It'll save anyone searching through the site looking for any changes as they'll be diaried here.
Today, on the Airgun page, I have added details from the NSRA concerning the British Airgun Championships. Also added on the Black Powder page are details for a Sporting Rifle league.
Julian also informs me that there is to be a fun shoot on Boxing day the 26th December. Sorry for the late notice.
It will be shot on a copy of the N.S.R.A. "Good Luck" Target. All members, family members and probationary members can shoot.
The rules are simple: Five (5) shots, highest score wins. If a shot hits inside a square the competitor receives the value of the number in that square. If a shot hits over a line the competitor receives the values of numbers in the squares touched. If a shot over the lines where they cross the competitor receives the value of the numbers in all the squares touched. Thus the highest score for a shot is 18. The club BSA Super Sport 5 with iron sights will be used for all shots. The club will supply the ammunition. Standing unsupported.
All ties to be settled with five (5) shots on a new card; highest score to win. The judges decision is final. It will be shot in the 25M Pistol Range. Arrive about 10:00 and finish by about 13:00. There'll be a bottle of vino for the winner, Julian says that as he doesn't have much taste, don't blame him if it's not very good! Mince pies etc optional, please feel free to bring something. Donations to cover the cost of ammunition and any additional prizes would be greatly appreciated.
